Security measures tightened in Beirut


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BEIRUT Feb 28 (KUNA) -- The Lebanese army and police forces beefed up their presence in several parts of the capital city on Sunday in the wake of demonstrations staged by supporters of Hezbollah group in protest against a satirical TV program.They set up more roadblocks and implemented precautionary measures including joint patrols in the neighborhoods of Al-Mazraa cornishe and the sports city the National News Agency (NNA) reported.The measures are meant to prevent recurrence of deadly clashes in the past between supporters of Hezbollah and the pro-Syrian March 8 Alliance on one hand and the supporters of the anti-Syrian March 14 Alliance on the other.Military troops were deployed at these sites yesterday after Hezbollah supporters staged protests following the airing by the Arabic MBC TV channel of a program satirizing the group's Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah.
