UAE- Sharjah Used Book Festival fetches AED383.000

SHARJAH 28th February 2016 (WAM)--The proceeds of the Sharjah Used Book Festival entitled "Treasure of Knowledge" which concluded yesterday at the Sharjah Palm Garden were AED383 000.

The proceeds will be allocated to develop programmes and enhance services for persons with disabilities.

Organised by the Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services in line with the initiative of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to make 2016 a year for reading nearly 170 volunteers from various organisations along with individuals organised the event.

The five-day event attracted over 50000 visitors from the UAE and neighbouring countries.

Jihad Abdul Qadir financial resources and investment development department official at the Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services said the turnout was very large adding "The festival is a bonus for all the volunteers." He noted that the cultural and social event seeks to raise awareness among members of society.
