Kuwait justice Al Mutawa'a takes part in UACCC conf. in Jordan


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The Dead Sea Jordan Feb 28 (KUNA) -- President of Kuwait Constitutional Court and Deputy Head of the Cassation Court Justice Yousef Al-Mutawa'a will preside over two sessions of the "Arab Constitutional Courts and Councils: Realistic Reforms and Challenges in Light of Regional Changes'" conference that took off in Jordan on Sunday.The two-day conference acquires special significance as an activity of the Union of the Arab Constitutional Councils and Courts (UACCC) which tackles "deep constitutional and Jurisprudential topics" Al-Mutawa'a told KUNA.Al-Mutawa'a noted that the topics to be discussed were carefully chosen to "enrich the work of constitutional courts and councils in the Arab World." It is attended by heads of constitutional courts and councils and representatives of legal institutions from a host of Arab countries who will discuss key topics such as the power of international pacts before constitutional judiciary and legality and appropriateness of constitutional judiciary. The opening ceremony was attended by Kuwait's ambassador to Jordan Dr. Hamad Al-Duaij.The UACCC was established in 1997 as a regional organization specialized in monitoring constitutionality of laws in the Arab countries.
