Qatar- Get a Witr jewelry, immortalise your iris

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Your iris can be immortalised hereafter! A young Qatari designer has come out with a unique idea of imprinting the image of the iris of a person on jewellery.

"It is a very new concept in the jewellery world. We are the first one to come out with such concept," claimed Reem al-Shamari, founder and CEO, Witr Jewelry, told Gulf Times at the ongoing Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition, 2016.

"Witr is an Arabic word meaning, unique one. We wanted to give something unique for the customers. It took me two years to patent and copyright this new concept."

Al- Shamari said that it takes up to two weeks to complete an order. "Depending on the complications of the iris, it can take up to two weeks. We take a snap of the iris and the customer can choose left or right iris as both are completely different. We turn it into a 3D design and then we start working with it on gold," she pointed out.

"No two persons have similar iris or eye print. We are focusing on this unique aspect. We immortalise the beauty of the iris of each person," she highlighted.

According to al- Shamari, the price of the jewellery ranges from QR10,000 to QR13,800. "We work with three kinds of gold, the yellow, rose and white gold. We use 18K or 21K gold. Since it is a customised product, the customers have the option to choose the gold as well as the diamond. They can go for black Belgian or clear Belgian diamond or without a diamond."

Al- Shamari said that designing is a passion for her. "I have not studied designing and it is not even a hobby. It is my passion.I have opened a shop in the new gold souq, at Souq Waqif. There are plans to develop it on a large scale. "

The designer pointed out that she wanted to highlight one special feature of an individual. "Personal value is our slogan. We want to highlight one value that every person has and therefore we began with the idea of eye print."

Al- Shamari felt that the iris is very magnificent and it needs to be immortalised. "I am a nature lover. I love to contemplate on the creations and their magnificence. This has led me to the beauty of human iris. Therefore, I decided to immortalise it on gold," she added.
