Jordan sets to implement its water strategy project


(MENAFN) The Water Ministry started applying its currently proclaimed 10-year strategy to produce over half-a-billion cubic meters (bcm) of freshwater.

Moreover, the project will generate 550mn cubic meters (mcm), involving exploration of new resources to produce 187mcm of freshwater.

In addition, it will also extract 65mcm of deep water from Shidiyeh-Hassa area, which are situated in Tafileh Governorate, some 180km southwest Amman.

The project can be finished amid one year and would cost USD 562.58mn, noting that the wells are 1,500-2,000 meters deep, while major parts of the project's infrastructure exists.
