Syrian armed opposition agrees to 'temporary truce'


(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) >Thearmed oppositionfighting Syrian PresidentBashar al-Assadhave agreed to a two-week weektrucebeginning from midnight Saturday but the government and its allies must not launch attacks the Syrian opposition has said according to Reuters.

"The High Negotiations Committee confirms the agreement of the Free Syrian Army factions and thearmed oppositionto a temporarytruce" the newswire quoted the HNC as saying in a statement on Friday.

The HNC added that the government and its allies must not use the "proposed text to continue the hostile operations against the opposition factions under the excuse of fighting terrorism".

Bashar al-Assadwas reported to have said earlier this week that he was accepting theplanfor for cessation ofhostilitiesdrafted by Russia and the United States.
