Anti Israel ads being removed from London subway

(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) >The anti-Israel posters pasted without permission on ad boards inLondon subway trains last weekend were still in the process of being removed the transport authority Transport for London said Friday.
A media officer from Transport for London told Anadolu Agency that the process of taking down the posters was still ongoing following numerous negative reactions including those of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
A Pro-Palestine activist group called London Palestine Action whichput up more than 100 posters last weekend said in a statement on its website that the posters "put a spotlight on the support Israel gets from the UK: the government arms industry and companies like G4S [British security services company which operates security in Israeli prisons]."
In total there were four different posters that were produced to look like genuine ads. One of them targeted the BBC the U.K.’s state-funded media network for "reporting in favour of Israel".
The act was condemned by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday.
Netanyahu stated during a TV appearance that he had asked a top Israeli diplomat Dore Gold who was in London at that time to "immediately approach the British government" to address the issue.
Yale Kahn an Israeli activist fromthe London Palestine Action group praised the latest initiative whch was launched as part ofIsraeli Apartheid Week which takes place each year in the U.K.
"The action was an amazing success. I think they [Israeli officials] are so hysteric just from few posters telling the truth about Israel" she told Anadolu Agency.
Israeli settlements in the West Bank East Jerusalem and the Golan Heights -- lands occupied by Israel in 1967 -- are considered illegal by the international community and a major impediment to peace with Palestinians.
UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Jan. 26 had urged Israel to freeze its settlement activity in the occupied West Bank calling it an "affront" to the world community.
