Abduction of Qataris in Iraq condemned

Cairo: The First Conference of Speakers of the Arab Parliaments condemned the abduction of Qatari innocent citizens who entered the Iraqi territory legitimately and legally.

It stressed full solidarity with the Qatari government and support for all actions taken by it to secure the release of its citizens and their safe return.

This came in the final statement of the two-day conference which ended yesterday.

H E Mohamed bin Mubarak Al Khulaifi Speaker of the Advisory (Shura) Council led Qatar’s delegation. Participants also condemned terrorist organisations and groups that had taken the same means and tools to threaten peace and security in Arab countries stressing their support for Iraq’s efforts to combat terrorism and provide assistance and support to Libya in its similar efforts.

The conference stressed the need for solidarity among Arab countries to confront violence and terror to protect the Arab world and develop an Arab parliamentary vision ‘Arab parliamentary on counter-terrorism and extremism charter’ and a sub-committee of Arab parliaments speakers to oversee the preparation of the charter.QNA
