ABU DHABI 25th February 2016 (WAM) -- The UAE has made every effort to provide equal opportunities to women and guarantee their rights in all walks of national life out of its belief in women's empowerment a local English-language daily commented.

"The induction of young women in the Cabinet is a case in point. The two-day Global Women's Forum in Dubai which saw more than 2000 delegates and policy-makers from around the world has just furthered the envelope" said Khaleej Times in an editorial on Thursday.

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Queen Rania of Jordan and IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde were the keynote speakers who illustrated the need for gender equality at a time when the great religion of Islam is being misinterpreted.

Sheikh Abdullah rightly said "When it comes to women's empowerment the fault is not the lack of roles women play in society. It is the fault of those who lack in allowing women to play a role in society."

No society can call itself egalitarian and progressive if it denies women their due role in society. The empowerment should be across the board: family society and at the governmental level. Women have an indispensable role to play as mother and teacher and the wisdom of a women is second to none.

The Dubai-based daily concluded by saying "A society's expectation of its women determines its growth and success as a country and the national mindset has a definite role to play in it. This is why the UAE believes in empowering women and they have scaled to new heights of success at home and abroad. Empowering women is tantamount to empowering the society."
