Qatar- Azerbaijan embassy pays tribute to Khojaly martyrs

Doha: The Azerbaijan embassy remembered the martyrs of Khojaly City killed by Armenian military forces in Azerbaijan in 1992.

Twenty-four years have passed since the genocide against peaceful inhabitants committed as part of aggression long-lasting ethnic cleansing and genocide policy of Armenian chauvinists and their supporters against Azerbaijan violating international laws human rights and freedoms.

The massacre on February 25 and 26 by the Armenian forces and the 366th moto-artillery regiment of the former Soviet army was one of the unprecedented in the history of humanity.

A total of 613 people including 106 women 63 children and 70 elderly were killed over 1000 became disabled due to injuries; 1275 were taken hostages the fate of 150 still unknown eight families were exterminated; 25 children lost both parents and 130 one parent and captives and hostages were tortured.

During the aggression all elements of genocide stated in international conventions and UN General Assembly resolutions were applied. The genocide has not been properly assessed yet and the organisers and perpetrators were not prosecuted and punished.

Armenia continued aggression and invaded 20 percent of Azerbaijani territories (Nagorno-Karabakh and adjacent seven regions). Occupied Nagorno-Karabakh and adjacent seven regions are a historical and integral part of Azerbaijan as reaffirmed by the international law and UN Security Council Resolutions 822 853 874 884 and others.

However the Armenian side has not met demand for immediate unconditional and total withdrawal. The crime hasn’t received due condemnation by the world community so far the embassy said in a statement.The Peninsula
