Algeria, Iraq discuss means to stop oil price deterioration


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ALGIERS Feb 24 (KUNA) -- Algeria and Iraq have the means to act together with other friendly countries to stem the decline in oil prices on international markets said Wednesday the Minister of State Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ramtane Lamamra.In a statement at the end of his discussions with his visiting Iraqi counterpart Ibrahim Al-Jaafari Lamamra said that the retreat of oil prices featured high on their talks."We have commitments (with Iraq) principles and common issues which also apply to the international oil markets which are recording a rapid decline in oil prices" said Lamamra."Our Iraqi friends and we are able to take actions together with other brotherly and friendly countries to stem the fall in oil prices" he added.Lamamra expressed his country's support to Iraq's in its fight against terrorism.He added that the he is sure that "the Iraqi brothers will eventually defeat this scourge as Algeria did previously and which it continues to face strongly." For his part Al-Jaafari said that the talks tackled several issues including the security one and the prospects of "promising" cooperation between the two countries. (end) ft.ibi
