Turkey- Wounded soldier passes two weeks after PKK attack


(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) A Turkish soldier has succumbed to wounds sustained in a Feb. 8 attack by the outlawedKurdistan Workers’ Party(PKK) while being treated at the Gülhane Military Academy (GATA) in Ankara.

An official statement released by the Turkish Armed Forces announced that a soldier who was wounded in the Sur district of southeasternDiyarbakrprovince had succumbed to his wounds at 8:20 p.m. on Feb. 23 despite all medical efforts to save him.

While the statement did not disclose the soldier’s identity a Doan News Agency report suggested he was specialized sergeant Yetkin Eran.
