DigitalTown agrees app platform deal with City of Gaylord

(MENAFN- ProactiveInvestors - UK) DigitalTown(OTC:DGTW)has won a contract to provide its local social media app Smart City in Gaylord Minnesota.

The platform to be operated by the local government in partnership with DigitalTown provides content on both web and mobile devices.

'It changes how the local economy consumes interacts and transacts. It does this by helping community members to see the world through local eyes' the company said.

In simple terms the app provides highly relevant local searches on any topic and produces a list of local vendors that meet the criteria.

Local stores are able to register as vendors on the platform without setup fees or service fees effectively allowing the local town to be its own Amazon.

The City Council of Gaylord unanimously approved DigitalTown's proposal at the City Council Meeting on February 17 2016.

Rob Monster CEO of DigitalTown said: 'In partnering with DigitalTown City management is demonstrating a bold vision for the future by equipping local merchants to win locally while empowering the online community of Gaylord to be as vibrant online as it is offline.'

Sellers will have access to the app from April 4 and the new site is expected to be open to the public on April 25 2016.
