Qatar- Japan Tests First Prototype Stealth Aircraft


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Tokyo February 24 (QNA) - Japan's Defense Ministry has conducted a test-run of its first prototype stealth aircraft at Nagoya Airport in Aichi Prefecture central Japan on Wednesday.

Japan's Defense Minister Gen Nakatani observed the trial from a Self-Defense Force base adjacent to the airport. The plane sped down the runway for about 500 meters at a speed of about 100 kilometers per hour Japan's (NHK World) newswire reported.

Nakatani told reporters after the test that the project appears to be moving ahead smoothly. He said he has high hopes for the development of Japanese fighter jets and technological innovation in the aviation industry.

More than 200 Japanese companies have been working on the stealth prototype for 7 years.The aircraft's shape and materials are designed to evade radar detection. Designers have also introduced new technologies to improve maneuverability.The United States has used its own F-22 stealth fighters in combat and Russia and China are also developing the technology.
