Oman- WCAS conclave to focus on innovations in engineering and management

A two-day international conclave themed 'Innovations in Engineering and Management (Oman Vision 2020: Opportunities and Challenges)' will begin at the Waljat College of Applied Sciences from Wednesday.

The conclave is supported by The Research Council (TRC).

H E Dr Hilal al Hinai secretary general TRC will be the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony. The inauguration will be followed by five professors and industrial experts delivering keynote addresses.

Dr Lee Chu Keong from Nanyang Technological University of Singapore will speak on the topic 'Two Secrets of Education'. The other speakers at the conclave include Dr Kun Huang Huarng professor of International Trade Feng Chia University Taiwan and Life Fellow of International Society of Management Engineers; Professor Ahmed M al Naamany dean Modern College of Business and Science Muscat; Dr Nawal Kishor professor and former director School of Management Studies Indira Gandhi National Open University New Delhi India and Salim Humaid Khalfan al Mahrooqi managing director Industrial Supplies Center.

Dr Huarng will speak on 'Strategies for Successful Internet Businesses; Dr Kishor on 'Innovative Marketing Strategy for Emerging Global Markets' Naamany on 'Why we have to research? Industry and Academia Collaboration in Sultanate' while Mahrooqi will speak on 'Challenges on Entrepreneurship in Sultanate of Oman'.

Over two days educationists IT professionals policy makers research scholars from Germany Singapore Japan the Philippines UAE Saudi Arabia Portugal Iraq Malaysia India and Oman will present 68 research papers in 16 parallel sessions. The organising committee received more than 200 research papers and after blind review by panel of experts 68 papers were selected for publication.

The speakers will present their ideas techniques and thereby build an understanding for scientific research find the best ways in which it can be adopted in today's engineering technology and business environment and identify scope for further study. The conclave will also see competitions for the best business plan case study and technical project for students from various higher education institutions in Oman.
