Kuwait's crude oil exports to China jump 18 percent


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) TOKYO Feb 23 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's crude oil exports to China in January jumped 18.0 percent from a year earlier to 1.09 million tons equivalent to around 258000 barrels per day (bpd) government data showed.Kuwaiti shipments of crude oil to China exceeded 250000 bpd level for the second consecutive month according to the General Administration of Customs.China's overall imports of crude oil in January was down 4.6 percent from a year earlier to a three-month low of 6.31 million bpd.Saudi Arabia returned to the nation's top supplier in the reporting month although its shipments declined 2.0 percent on the year to 1.01 million followed by Russia with 797000 bpd up 15.0 percent.Angola became third with imports from the country falling 7.5 percent to 717000 bpd. Iraq ranked fourth and Oman fifth respectively.Despite the economic slowdown China remains a major oil importer and consumer. China's dependency on imported oil exceeded 60 percent for the first time in 2015 and is expected to rise further this year state-run Xinhua News Agency reported last week. (end) mk.gta
