Morocco Seeks to Reduce Illiteracy to 5 by 2024


(MENAFN- Morocco World News) Head of Government Abdelilah Benkirane on Monday called for reinforcing institutional cooperation and joint action to achieve the goal of reducing illiteracy to 5 pc by 2024.

Speaking at a meeting of the Board of Directors of the National Agency for the Fight against Illiteracy he called on the agency to strengthen its cooperation with the concerned sectors and reinforce its human financial and logistic resources in order to implement the 2015-2024 road map which also aims to eradicate illiteracy among youth aged between 15 and 24 and improve the skills of the illiterate active population.

He also stressed the necessity to establish efficient monitoring and evaluating mechanisms to fulfill these goals the National Agency for the Fight against Illiteracy said in statement.

He noted that illiteracy is still high standing at 32 percent adding that “this problem represents a genuine hurdle to the economic growth of our country” it added.

During this meeting the members of the board of directors followed a presentation on the main points of the 2015-2024 road map.
