Britain's EVW to increase Kuwaiti visitors- Min. Ellwood


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT Feb 22 (KUNA) -- British Minister for Middle East and North Africa Tobias Ellwood has hoped a new Electronic Visa Waiver (EVW) system for Kuwaitis would contribute to an increase in number of visitors to Britain.Ellwood was quoted by a statement by the British Embassy as expressing hope EVW would further strengthen people-to-people links between Kuwait and Britain.The British Embassy announced yesterday the official launch of EVW for Kuwaiti passport holders who wished to travel for Britain for business and tourism.The EVW will allow Kuwaiti passport holders to travel to Britain for a visit of up to six months by filling in an online form at least 48 hours before they travel to Britain the embassy said explained.The scheme removes the need to give biometrics attend a visa application center or hand in passports in advance of travel. The application will cost Streling Pounds 15 (around seven Kuwaiti dinars).Ellwood congratulated the people of Kuwait who would be celebrating the 25th anniversary of liberation from the Iraqi invasion and the 55th national day.Passengers will be asked to upload a copy of their passport's biographic data page so that details can be checked for accuracy and security purposes prior to travel.The British Embassy warned that an EVW could not be changed less than 48 hours in advance of your flight departing. "Therefore if your travel plans are likely to change at the last minute a (normal) visa will remain a better option."
