Torrential Rainfall Causes Traffic Disruptions in Northern Morocco
(MENAFN- Morocco World News) The torrential rainfall that affected the cities of Tetouan and Chefchaouen in northern Morocco on Saturday caused temporary traffic disruptions. Tetouan and Chefchaouen recorded heavy rainfallon Sundaymorning causing soil erosion and water overflow onto roads. This overflow resulted in temporary traffic disruptions in several sites notably on roads linking Tetouan to Chefchaouen (National Route 2) and Tetouan to Al Hoceima (National Highway 16). The El Jebha region and surrounding areas on the coastal Mediterranean strip were also impacted according to Moroccan authorities. The Ministry of Equipment and Transport local authorities and security services were mobilized to avoid total disruption of traffic on the affected roads by reorganizing and diverting the traffic flow to alternative roads. The Moroccan Society of Motorways (ADM) announced that on Saturday night it suspended the toll levied on the section of motorway between the cities of Tetouan and Fnideq because of disruptions at several points along the highway linking the two cities.
