Wall Street ends a little softer as Wal Mart weighs

A three day rally ended on Wall Street overnight led a sell-off among U.S. retailers.

By the close the Dow Jones had fallen 52 points to 16402. The S&P 500 lost nine points to 1918 while the NASDAQ gave up 47 points to 4488.

Wal-Mart (NYSE:WMT) weighed on tickers down 3.3% at US$63.95 after disappointing earnings.

Across to commodities crude settled little changed. West Texas Intermediate added 0.4% to US$30.77 a barrel while Brent fell 0.7% to US34.25 a barrel.

Gold was the star overnight climbing over 2% to US$1236.30 an ounce.
