(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Riyadh February 20 (QNA) - The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has expressed full support for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's decision to review ties with Lebanon and to suspend aid to its army and internal security service.
GCC Secretary-General Abdullatif Al-Zayani said in a press statement that the GCC member states support the decision of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia which came in response to Lebanon's official positions that contradict Arab consensus and do not match Gulf-Lebanese relations.
He expressed regret that the Lebanese decision has been subject to the interests of regional and external powers and contradicts Arab national security and interest.
The GCC Chief hoped that Lebanon would reconsider its stances and policies that run counter to Arab integration and cooperation.
Saudi Arabia on Friday suspended its aid package for Lebanon's army and internal security service saying Lebanese positions do not match fraternal ties between both countries.(QNA)
