Turkey- Escaped lions cause panic in Kenyan capital

(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) News that six escaped lions are roaming free in a Kenyan city suburb has spread fear across Nairobi.

The animals broke free from Nairobi National park into Lang’ata a residential suburb of the Kenyan capital on Friday.

Most doors in the area remained locked and only few people could be seen on the roads as residents hid in fear even after the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) said that it had sent a team to track down the animals.

The KWS issued a statement asking the public to be on the lookout for the lions and to avoid any direct confrontation if spotted.

The wildlife service said it was not “hunting” the lions to kill them but that their officers were on the ground carrying out trace-and-capture operations.

The lions would not be killed “unless the situation changes” the KWS said.
