Turkey- Iranian media misquote Turkish PM's statements
(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) Iranian media misquoted the Turkish prime minister’s statements earlier this week on PYD/YPG attacks and Turkey’s response.
On Feb. 14 Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu told German Chancellor Angela Merkel in a phone call that Turkey “will not permit PYD to carry out aggressive acts. Our security forces gave the necessary response and will continue to do so.”
The telephone conversation came in the wake of Turkish shelling of YPG positions in northern Syria after thousands of civilians were forced from their homes by the Russian-backed Syrian government and the Kurdish offensive in Aleppo.
Iranian media including Mehr Fars ISNA ANA Khabaronline Fardanews and Press TV twisted Davutoglu’s statement saying that “Turkey’s attacks against the Syrian Kurdish people will continue.”
The Iranian official and government-supported media however have published similar false news before.
Allegations and accusations against President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Turkey have been published by Iranian media in recent months.
Turkey had objected to the twisted news and Iranian Deputy President Eshaq Jahangiri apologized to Turkey for the falsified news.
