Qatar- Sudan school tops in Jeem Cup

Doha: Two injury-time goals helped Mohamed Abdalla Moosa School of Sudan to clinch the Jeem Cup in dramatic fashion at Lekhwiya Stadium on Tuesday night.

In an exciting final the Sudan school were trailing by two goals till end of the last minute of the match against Universal School of Comoro Islands.

The winners however pumped in two late goals to draw level at two-all at the end of full time play and clinch the title 4-3 in the penalty shoot-out.

All the four goals during the regular period of play came in the second half of the match in the tournament open for U-12 school teams.

The first half of 20 minutes did not produce any goals in the 9-a-side match.

In the second half Roshdi Hasan Ali gave Universal School the lead and Kaab Moutee Ali consolidated it with a second goal five minutes from the final whistle.

The Sudan boys refused to throw in the towel and managed to pull one back in the first minute of injury time through Saleh Mohammad Younes and secured the equaliser a minute later with Zein Al Abdeen Omar Suleiman finding the net.

With the teams locked at two-all the tie breaker system was applied in which Sudan proved to be better shooters. Mohamed Abdalla Moosa schoolboys failed to score from the first spotkick but converted the remaining four while Universal Schools were successful with three of the five kicks. Zein Al Abdeen Omar Suleiman Amjad Mohammad Youssef Hamdan Maab Hatem Al Hajj Al Tayyeb and Moustafa Faez Ezzeddine found the target for the winners in the penalty shoot-out

Kaab Moutee Ali Yehya Ahmad and Arkan AlDeen Mohammad scored for the losing finalists.

Mohamed Abdalla Moosa School of Sudan got the winners prize of QR200000.

The second ranked team got QR150000 and the third ranked team a school from UAE got QR100000. A school from Kuwait took fourth place.

These is the second year of Jeem Cup an initiative taken by JeemTV to fulfil the passion of Arab fans for football. Champions schools from 18 countries took part in this year’s edition.

The objectives of the Jeem Cup is to promote self health care encourage children to adopt a healthy lifestyle follow the steps of prominent football players exchanging values & cultures between Jeem Cup football players educating Jeem Cup players about the practices and principles of football developing the talent of children in football and helping children to know valuable tips and instructions of the football.
