Korea's jobless ratio drops with 339k new jobs in Jan


(MENAFN) South Korea saw a positive progress over last month in terms of trimming its unemployment numbers, as it has generated 339 thousand jobs, making the total employed hit 25.445mn in Jan, 339,000 more from a year earlier.

In accordance, the jobless rate for the cited month touched 3.7 percent; however, this increase was less than Dec's 495 thousand surge in employment numbers, which represented the biggest monthly progress in 16 months.

Manufacturers did the most hiring with 145 thousand in total for the mentioned month, whereas service industries came in 2nd place as food retailers added 81 thousand jobs and real estate developers created 64 thousand labors.

The overall advancement in January's job generation was led by those in their 50s and 60s, whose employments amplified 115,000 and 194,000 respectively, but youths weren't as lucky as the unemployed from them exceeded 1 million.
