S. Korea reports 0.1pct dip in steel supplies' inflows over Jan

(MENAFN) Partly driven by the decrease in influxes of Chinese products, South Korea's inbound shipments of steel materials dropped in Jan as opposed to the past year.

The 4th largest economy in the world imported 1.94 million tons of steel materials, which reflects a slight 0.1 percent deterioration from the same month a year earlier.

Additionally, by product, imports of steel enforcement and wire rods increased; whereas steel plate and hot-rolled steel sheet inbound shipments both suffered a decline.

According to Korea Iron & Steel Association's compiled data, inflows from China, which made up more than 60pct of the total, dropped 1.3 percent on-year to 1.17 million tons.
