Kuwait- Oil driller fire controlled- KOC spokesman


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT Feb 17 (KUNA) -- The fire that broke out at a crude oil driller northern the country is controlled Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) announced late Wednesday.
The Company's fire-fighting teams are carrying on with their duty and are taking precautionary measures to prevent recurrence of the incident said KOC spokesman Saad Al-Azmi in a statement.
These procedures according Al-Azmi include cooling off the platform and maintaining maximum emergency alert until the situation is assessed.
The Company announced earlier today that roads leading to northern regions and oil fields were safe and that reading of emitted gas "is assuring and the thick gas is caused by putting out the blaze." On Tuesday the Environmental Public Authority (EPA) said that the gases caused by the fire contained no hazardous elements. (pickup previous) osj.hb
