Bahrain reaffirms commitment to human rights protection


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) MAHAMAH Feb 17 (KUNA) -- The Kingdom of Bahrain attaches great importance to the protection of individual freedoms and rights as part of its on-going reform programs the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release on Wednesday."Sustained and substantial efforts to strengthen economic security and democratic institutions have formed a key part of this (reform) process and made a significant contribution to ensuring citizens' fundamental rights and freedoms" BNA news agency quoted the statement as saying."The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also reaffirms that Bahrain's judicial system is independent and impartial and that freedom of expression is a fundamental right within Bahrain enshrined in the constitution and protected by the law."The Kingdom's inclusive reforms have delivered wide-ranging human rights criminal justice and socio-economic reforms since the events of 2011" the statement stressed noting the the Kingdom will pursue the path of progress and development.It added that the Kingdom welcomes the collaboration with the United States and remains committed to further enhancing relations in order to promote the shared interests and protect security and stability in the region and beyond.
