Qatar- QC implemented over 70 projects in Albania


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Qatar Charity volunteers distribute aid to people in Albania.

DOHA: Qatar Charity (QC) implemented more than 70 projects in Albania at a cost of over QR14m last year.

The projects covered education culture social care relief public housing water and economic empowerment and benefited thousands.

Ten projects in the fields of education and culture were implemented at a cost of QR6.9m.

Last year the number of beneficiaries reached 1700 students who attended courses at Qatar Centre for Languages. So far 30000 students have benefited from the centre’s services.

The Arabic for Non-Natives Centre benefited 100 students last year and over 200 students took advantage of the services offered by Qatar Centre for Administrative Training and Social Services.

The establishment of Islamic Fajr Centre is in progress. It will offer multiple services and is considered one of the best mosques in Durres second biggest city in Albania.

QC supports Islamic sheikhs by sponsoring 55 imams from mosques in Albania.

In cooperation with Hayat Association QC sponsored 40 Islamic preachers as part of ‘Weekend Schools’ project which benefit some 800 children.

QC also supports some families of orphans by implementing small projects to help them cover their needs. Thirty projects were implemented including the establishment of small shops apiaries; selling clothes cows. Such projects have been successful and are many of them are expanding.

The ‘Albanian for the Albanian’ project collects clothes from individuals and shops and distributes them to orphans and poor families. More than 10000 people benefited from 30 tonnes of clothes and shoes.

QC also helped furnish the elderly home for men in Fush-Krujë.

Seasonal projects are also considered important in Albania. For example the families of poor people and orphans benefited from ‘Breaking Fast’ project which distributed food baskets.

At a cost of QR280000 two relief projects were implemented to aid the flood-affected in south Albania. The Peninsula
