UAE- Zayed University to host NACADA conference on February 22

DUBAI 16th February 2016 (WAM) -- Zayed University is set to host the National Academic Advising Association NACADA conference for the first time under the theme "Aspire Connect and Empower" on its Dubai campus from 22nd to 25th February.

The NACADA is an association of professional advisors counsellors faculty members and administrators who are working to enhance the educational development of students and promote student success by advancing the field of academic advising globally.

Held under the patronage of Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi Minister of State for Tolerance President of Zayed University the four-day conference aims to promote and support quality academic advising in institutions of higher education.

NACADA not only provides an interactive forum for discussion debate and exchange of ideas pertaining to academic advising through numerous activities and publications but also serves as an advocate for effective academic advising by providing a consulting services and funding for research related to academic advising.

"The four-day conference also aims to share scholarly research that clarifies best practices as well as strategies and programmes that engage students in advising connect with leading practitioners in the field of academic advising and give a greater insight into advising students from the Arab Gulf Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region and beyond" said Bryan Gilroy the Conference Chair and Assistant Provost and Campus Director.

"The NACADA conference will also welcome distinguished delegates from around 13 countries. Nearly 80 concurrent sessions are scheduled to take place" Gilroy added.

The event will host a cultural evening on February 23rd sponsored by the Al Maktoum Foundation to highlight the Emirati culture and traditions.

NACADA evolved from the first National Conference on Academic Advising in 1977 was chartered in 1979 and now has over 10000 members representing 50 states.
