Iran- Zarif Mogherini discuss Syria bilateral ties

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BRUSSELS Feb 15 (KUNA) -- EU High Representative Federica Mogherini met tonight with Iranian foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif to discuss EU-Iran bilateral relations and developments in Syria."We have been working together in the International Support Group for Syria. This will be one of the main points of our discussion tonight. The concrete steps to be taken to deescalate the conflict come to cessation of hostilities and humanitarian access inside Syria as we agreed altogether in Munich just a few days ago" Mogherini told reporters ahead of the meeting.On his part Zarif said "there is a very high capacity of cooperation between Iran and the EU."There are many issues of common interest such as protection of environment regional issues trafficking of narcotics human rights etc. These are issues we all want to follow upon and we will replace tension with conversation and dialogue" he said.Earlier in the evening Zarif spoke on EU-Iran ties developments in the region and Iran-Saudi Arabia ties at an event organised by the Belgian think tank Egmont Institute.He will speak at the foreign affairs committee of the European Parliament on Tuesday and also meet EP President Martin Schulz.
