Doha: Qatar Airways (QA) was unveiled as KidZania Singapore’s latest industry partner yesterday at a press conference and special preview of the KidZania Singapore establishment on Sentosa Island.

Visitors entering KidZania Singapore will be welcomed at the QA branded terminal complete with check-in desks and personnel in the airline’s uniforms. The facility is also home to the Aviation Academy where kids can immerse themselves in the world of aviation and travel.

With the help of ‘Zupervisors’ aspiring pilots at KidZania Singapore can experience flying two of QA’s flagship aircraft – the Boeing 787 Dreamliner and the A380 superjumbo aircraft – using state-of-the-art flight simulators. The flight simulation facility was designed to demonstrate taking off and landing at QA’s home base and hub Hamad International Airport and Singapore Changi Airport.

Kids can also role-play as QA’s cabin crew learning how to ensure the safety and comfort of passengers on board. Parents can join in the fun as they role-play as passengers receiving award-winning in-flight hospitality from their little ones.

Akbar Al Baker QA Group Chief Executive said: “We are delighted to partner with KidZania again to ignite children’s imagination and bring their aviation dreams to life in an educational and entertaining way.

“We aspire to go places together with our passengers and through KidZania Singapore we hope to introduce today’s budding aviation enthusiasts to the airline environment helping them on their journeys into an aviation-related career when they grow up.”

Voted the world’s best airline last year QA is the official airline industry partner for KidZania Singapore due to open in April. It will be the second KidZania City the multi-award winning airline is partnering with after KidZania Kuwait.

On arrival at Palawan Kidz City at Palawan Beach where KidZania Singapore is housed visitors will be greeted with the sight of a life-size decommissioned Boeing 737 measuring over 25-metre long with a full wingspan of 28 metres.

Of all 22 KidZania cities worldwide KidZania Singapore will be the only theme park to showcase the full fuselage of an actual plane within its city.

To date the multi-award-winning indoor edutainment centre has attracted over 26 million visitors worldwide and KidZania Singapore expects to attract 500000 guests annually.

Through the academy not only can kids inch closer to their dreams of becoming pilots and cabin crew they can also gain a greater appreciation for the responsibilities and skills required to be part of the airline’s operating crew.

Leong Yue Weng General Manager KidZania Singapore said; “The partnership with QA is exceptionally significant as the plane identifies KidZania City from afar. Parents and children will have the rare chance to come up close with a real plane and have their first taste of the level of realism which KidZania represents as they check in through the airport counters.

“The airline establishment in all KidZania cities offers some of the most popular experiences and a rare insight into the aviation industry. We look forward to working with QA to offer a unique and enriching edutainment experience in Singapore.”

Designed to suit children aged four and above KidZania Singapore complements school learning experiences through realistic role-play. Kids will have the option to choose among role-playing activities within KidZania Singapore.
