Japan Oct. Dec. Real GDP Down 0.4 Pct QtrQtr

Tokyo 15th February 2016 (WAM)--Japan's gross domestic product in October-December last year fell 0.4 pct from the previous quarter in price-adjusted real terms the Cabinet Office said in a preliminary report Monday.

On an annualized basis the country's GDP dropped 1.4 pct in the third quarter of fiscal 2015 the government agency said.

The annualized figure was worse than the median forecast of a 1.1 pct drop among 22 economic research institutes polled by Jiji Press.

In nominal terms Japan's GDP fell 0.3 pct quarter on quarter for an annualized decrease of 1.2 pct.

For the whole of calendar 2015 Japan's GDP grew 0.4 pct in real terms and 2.5 pct in nominal terms from the previous year.
