(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) Israeli forces shot dead two Palestinians after an alleged attempted gun attack outside Jerusalem's Old City on Sunday night.
Israeli police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld tweeted that no Israelis were injured but both Palestinians were killed. He said both had weapons and tweeted a photo of an automatic weapon he said police found at the scene.
More than 20 shots were heard at the time of the attack and Israeli newspaper The Jerusalem Post reported that Israeli border police shot dead the alleged attackers as they attempted to open fire.
The incident was near the Old City's Damascus Gate one of the focal points of violence that since Oct. 1 has killed 176 Palestinians and 30 Israelis or foreigners according to Palestinian and Israeli authorities.
Earlier on Sunday two Palestinians were shot dead near Jenin in the occupied West Bank after allegedly opening fire on police and another was killed after police claimed he charged at them with a knife at a checkpoint near Bethlehem.
The Palestinian health ministry also confirmed a 21-year-old woman was seriously injured and underwent several operations after she was shot at a checkpoint in the occupied West Bank city of Hebron.
