Israeli ex pm starts 19 month prison sentence


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman Feb.15 (Petra) -- Israel's former prime minister Ehud Olmert Monday started his 19-month prison sentence for bribery and obstruction of justice Israeli sources reported.

According to the Israeli radio Olmert will spend his term in the Massiyahu prison in Ramle becoming the first Israeli prime minister to serve time in jail.

His 19-month sentence was reduced from an original sentence of six years by the Supreme Court in December the radio added.

Olmert enters prison as a result of his conviction for bribery from March 2014 relating to his time as Mayor of Jerusalem.
