Qatar- TDP vaccination drive for schools from February 21 to March 17


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) DOHA: The Ministry of Public Health in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) organised a training workshop to launch the annual vaccination drive against tetanus diphtheria and pertussis (TDP).

The campaign for secondary schools of Independent private and communities schools will be held from February 21 to March 17.

Around 220 nurses from PHCC and private and communities schools attended the workshop that discussed the goal of the campaign and how to make it a success.

Dr Hamad Eid Al Rumaihi Director Health Protection & Communicable Disease Control Department at the Ministry of Public Health said: “Qatar is free of tetanus diphtheria and pertussis due to the vaccination we have been offering.” He said the campaign aims to enhance students’ immunity and that World Health Organisation has recommended the vaccine every 10 years. He also highlighted the achievements of the campaign since 2011.

Dr Ahmed Khalaf Medical Director GSK company spoke on the vaccine. Experts also focused on means of preventing such diseases.The Peninsula
