Qatar- Children's exhibition and contest open

Doha: The 17th children’s exhibition and contest opened yesterday at Doha Municipality headquarters under the theme ‘Make Recycling your Sign’.

It was opened by Mohammed Ahmed Al Sayeed Director of the municipality and is organised by the Health Monitoring Department.

The exhibition and the contest aim to raise awareness of schoolchildren about reuse and recycling of solid waste. Students from primary and middle levels at Independent and private schools are taking part in the event which runs until March 17. Each school is participating with 30 students and the exhibition will devote one hour for each school between 9am and 1pm.

Students are expected to take part in activities including drawing and manual work.

Organisers preferred to involve students in such activities to make them gain technical capabilities skills and information.

Prizes will be awarded to 10 best works addressing the theme of the exhibition. Prizes also will be given to participants.

The Ministry of Municipality and Environment said on its website that it is keen to enhance environmental awareness and make schoolchildren pay attention to the economic value of solid waste by reusing and recycling it.
