DOHA: Reach Out To Asia (ROTA) has launched the second phase of its 2015-2016 Training of Trainers (ToT) programme to compliment the Adult Arabic Literacy (RAAL) programme and Adult English Literacy (RAEL) programme.

The programme from January 23 until April-end is a collaboration between several Qatar Foundation members including the Academic Bridge Programme and Awsaj Academy.

Other entities involved in the training include the Doha Expressway a Public Works Authority of Qatar (Ashghal) project and Qatari Diar Vinci Construction’s (QDVC) Light Transit System (LRT).

This year 20 volunteers will focus on RAAL to develop their Arabic communication skills learning about Qatari society from a historical social and cultural perspective and promoting an informed cultural respect between Qatar and other countries.

RAEL’s 170 volunteers will become literacy trainers using ROTA’s custom-designed English literacy curriculum to help workers improve their language abilities and life opportunities and achieve personal goals.

ToT’s volunteers will be responsible for providing training to 450 low-income workers.

Essa Al Mannai Executive Director ROTA said it reflects ROTA’s belief in the importance of investing in Qatar’s human potential.

“The ToT programme helps ROTA in its mission to foster a progressive society. Our success would not have been possible without support of our partner organisations and their proactive approach to social responsibility which has enabled workers to learn new skills and improve their lives” Al Mannai said.

ROTA works towards building stronger communities through initiatives which impact youth and people in need. The RAEL and RAAL programmes were created to develop English and Arabic literacy of low-income workers in Qatar. The programme also provides opportunity for young people in Qatar to take part in experiential service-learning developing their skills and knowledge as literacy trainers.
