Kuwait- Hala February Cultural Festival kicks off

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT Feb 14 (KUNA) -- The Supreme Organizing Committee of Hala February national festival launched Sunday in cooperation with Kuwait Writers Association Hala February Cultural Festival.The four-day event is themed "Highlights from Our National Unity" and includes a wide array of cultural activities.In the first day Dr. Bnayyan Al-Turki delivered a lecture on Kuwait martyrs.Al-Turki said that those martyrs had scarified their lives to defend the dear homeland and its liberty. He underlined the importance of documenting and promoting their lives and scarifies so that the coming generations follow their steps in defending their country.Meanwhile former secretary of the Kuwait Awqaf (Endowments) Public Foundation Abdulmohsen Al-Kharafi pointed out that endowments have been playing an instrumental role in cementing national unity through its efforts to promote tolerance and mercifulness among compatriots.For his part History Professor at Kuwait University Saud Al-Asfour shed lights on the role of sea in Kuwait's history and the ancestors love to marine live and sea trade.Moreover Poet Waleed Al-Qallaf recited a poem on Kuwait's love which attracted laud applauses from the attendants.A book fair and a stamps and coins exhibition would be held on the sidelines of the festival.
