Syrian Siamese Twins Separation Surgery Kicks off at King Abdullah Specialist Children's Hospital 2 Riyadh


(MENAFN- Saudi Press Agency) The surgery is expected to take 12 hours and a success percentage up to 60%, where the Saudi medical surgical specialist team, headed by Chairman of the Department of Neurosurgery Dr. Ahmed Al-Feriyan will undergo the separation operation of the twins through six stages with the participation of about 22 specialists from Neurosurgery, Plastic Surgery, Interventional Radiology, anesthesia, pediatric intensive care team, nursing, technicians and assistants sections.

Dr. Al-Feriyan, Consultant of neurosurgery and head of the medical team participating in the Syrian Siamese twin separation surgery explained that the twins "Toqa and Yaqeen" share in the head area and this kind of conjoining is the most difficult and complicated.
