Kuwait bans bird imports from India


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT Feb 11 (KUNA) -- The Public Authority for Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources banned on Thursday imports of live birds eggs and one-day-old chicks from India due to the outbreak of the pathogenic H5N1 bird flu.In a statement the authority stressed the importance of subjecting all incoming consignments to its conditions and restrictions in line with World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) requirements the veterinary quarantine systems in Kuwait and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).The decision was taken against the backdrop of the OIE's recent reports on the outbreak of H5N1 bird flu in India.
