(MENAFN- Morocco World News) A Pakistani man has been arrested in Dubai for attempting to use a forged Moroccan passport to board a flight to Brazil the Dubai Criminal Court of First instance has said.
The man named only as MS hid the passport in his underwear but was caught by airport security forces at the boarding gate and later arrested. He will now serve a three-month jail sentence before being deported.
Unlike Pakistani citizens Moroccans can travel to Brazil without a visa. It is believed the man failed in his previous attempts to obtain a visa.
Once in court he was open about his intentions and said that he was desperate to find a better life in Brazil. This led him on a search for every available option.
'I headed to a travel and tourist company in my country to find out how I can do that. I met a man called Salim in the company. Salim told me that he would arrange for a forged Moroccan passport for 700000 Pakistani Rupees' he told the court.
He then travelled to Dubai where a man at terminal three of Dubai International Airport handed him the forged passport. An investigation showed the Moroccan passport which had forged Dubai stamps was intended for use in accessing the flight to Brazil.
'Salim called me from Pakistani to be sure that I got the passport. Salim asked me to finish all departure formalities using my Pakistani passport and to hide the Moroccan passport in my underwear until reaching Brazil. He told me that once I arrive there I should use the Moroccan passport' MS said.
MS was then stopped during routine inspections and later detained by airport security staff. It is believed the accused cooperative with security staff and open about his intentions throughout the process.
