CEO leads QIIB staff in walkathon

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Senior members of QIIB executive management and staff members participated in National Sport Day activities yesterday.
They were led by QIIB chief executive officer, Abdulbasit Ahmed al-Shaibei.
They organised a walkathon from QIIB headquarters at the Grand Hamad Street to the Corniche.
Speaking to Gulf Times during the event yesterday, al-Shaibei said QIIB always supported community and nation building activities in which sport has a distinguished role.
He said promotion of sports contributed to the welfare of the society as it helped build a "healthy generation". Qatar has an elegant sport tradition and culture, which the country carefully nurtures.
Qatar has now become one of the major sport hubs in the world and has created a world class sport infrastructure, which the country can certainly be proud of.
Qatar also regularly hosts major world level events, which highlights the importance the country attaches to sport.
Sport is also a key element in the human development pillar of the Qatar National Vision 2030.
"At QIIB, we will continue to lay emphasis on promoting sport and help build a healthy society," al-Shaibei said.
