Oman's swimmers bag eight gold at GCC meet

Omani swimmers continued to pick up medals at the 13th GCC Short-Course Swimming Championship (25m) at the Hamad Aquatic Centre in Doha Qatar.

Heading into the final session of the championship on Saturday Oman had collected a total of 13 medals including eight gold and five silver.

Oman's top swimmer Issa al Adawi was impressive winning gold in 800m and 200m freestyle events in the men's event and then picking up another gold in 100m freestyle.

He also fetched two silver first winning in men's 400m freestyle and then bagging his second in the 50m freestyle in the 15-17 years age-group category.

Also striking gold was Abdulrahman al Kulaibi who completed a golden double in the 200m and 400m individual medley in the men's events.

Muhannad Auladthani claimed two gold in the 50m freestyle and 50m backstroke (11-12 yrs).

The other gold medal was won by Shehab Aladdin in the 200m backstroke (13-14 yrs). Shehab also picked up a silver in 50m backstroke.

The silver medals were won by Abdullah al Hinai in 50m and 100m butterfly (11-12 yrs).
