Qatar Rail to build start of art transport network before '22 world cup


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) DOHA Feb 8 (KUNA) -- Qatar Rail said Monday it would develop public transport infrastructure to establish an excellent network before the 2022 World Cup.Qatar Rail seeks to achieve Qatar's 2030 strategic vision that aims at diversifying economy for the sake of improving public service Executive Director Abdullah Al-Sabeeh said before the International Sports Press Association (AIPS) congress explaining the company's operations.He talked about Doha Metro Qatar's largest infrastructure project that stretched over a 215-kilometer rail with up to 100 stations. The first phase will be completed in 2019.Doha Metro will include three lines. The Red Line will start from Al-Wakrah stopping at the Airport passing through the corniche and ends in Lusail.The Green Line begins from Ras Abu Abboud passing through Bin Mahmoud area Hamad Hospital and Gharrafah all the way to Al-Rifa'.The Orange Line begins from downtown through Al-Sadd and then Villaggio Mall.Al-Sabeeh said Qatar Rail aspired to transport 1.5 million people by the year 2030 thus reducing the number of private vehicles on roads.The AIPS was opened by the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah Al-Thani.
