Israel agrees to return bodies of 10 slain Palestinians

(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) Israel has agreed to return the bodies of 10 Palestinians it heldafter they were killed during alleged attacks since October.

Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported Monday that Israeli authorities and Palestinian Jerusalemite families had agreed to the return of the bodies on the condition that only close family members attend the night-time burials.

Palestinian lawyer Rami Saleh told Anadolu Agency in January that previous agreements for the return of the bodies broke down suddenly despite the families agreeing to conditions that included burying the bodies outside of Jerusalem.

Palestinian news agency Ma'an reported Sunday that two of the killed Palestinian youths Ahmad Abu Shaabanand Musab Ghazali were to be returned to their families after being held for 100 days and 30 days respectively.

In October the Israeli government passed measures allowing itsarmed forces to retain the bodies of Palestinians killed during alleged stabbing attacks claiming that their funerals served as 'incitement' by glorifying violence.

The bodies of the 10 slainJerusalemites were however believed to be the last remaining bodies being held by Israelas the policy led to regular protests in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem.
