Bahrain's FM refutes ambassador's statement on sending troops to Syria

(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) Bahraini Foreign Minister Halid Ahmad Al Khalifa refuted on RT Arabic television on Monday a statement made by the country’s ambassador in London that Manama plans to send ground troops to Syria.

On Saturday Reuters reported that Bahraini Ambassador to the United Kingdom Sheikh Fawaz Al Khalifa said Manama would send troops to Syria in an agreement with Saudi Arabia.

“No it’s not like that” Foreign Minister Khalifa said.

“What is being attached to what our ambassador in London said is incorrect. Our ambassador said nothing in regard to Bahrain sending or preparing to send ground troops to Syria or any other place in the fight against terrorism” the foreign minister said.
