US seeks to resolve solar business dispute with India

(MENAFN) The United States and India are currently holding crucial discussions that could settle a long-running solar power trade dispute between the two powers, based on recent reports.

The world's largest economy filed the WTO challenge three years ago, claiming that India's national solar power program illegally discriminated against imported solar panels and related products.

Basically, the US initiated this dispute for the main purpose of advancing the rapid and continuous deployment of clean, affordable energy in the Asian Republic and around the entire world.

The US complaint in 2013 alleged that the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission subsidies were available only if developers used gear produced in India, violating a key global trade rule.
