US imports from Iran reach USD10.8m in Dec


(MENAFN) After more than two years of complete disconnection, the US has finally rebuilt the bridges with Iran and resumed importing goods from, starting last December.

The value of imports in the mentioned month stood at USD10.8 million, which is considered a significant breakthrough after applying the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

In particular, under the landmark nuclear agreement, the US government has granted permission for the import of some Iranian products, including carpet and saffron.

Furthermore, the Islamic Republic shipped out USD2.2 million worth of goods to the US in 2013, while the sum in 2014 and in the first eleven months of 2015 dropped to zero.
