SPE Qatar Section kicks off '16 with presentation on new developments in well technology

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) SPE Qatar Section has held its first meeting for this year with a technical presentation delivered by lecturer Brian Schwanitz of Welltec.
Speaking at the technical presentation, Schwanitz brought to light the latest developments for e-Line stroking hydraulic tools for well interventions. Since its launch in 2001, the technology has seen a wide array of applications with increasing capabilities and efficiency to well interventions to repair and optimise oil and gas production.
The new products in the market will now be able to deliver a wider range of solutions to clients with increased tool sizes, stroke lengths, and downhole forces. Millions of dollars can be saved by using these tools instead of having a coiled tubing unit or drilling rig to repair these wells.
SPE members from all levels of the industry found the presentation to be "very informative" and "relevant" and viewed the topic as being a "timely technological advancement", which could provide a more cost-effective solution when compared to existing alternatives for well interventions.
Qatar SPE Section programme chair, Michael Gunningham, said the section has a planned year of activities for 2016, aiming to address many more significant issues and technological developments in the field.
